It’s no secret that Filipinos have an immense love for food that shows in their smiles. Noodle House capitalizes on this fact to bring four of the Philippines’ most iconic food to their menu in celebration of the 120th Philippine Independence Day for a limited time only! The menu will satisfy not just the cravings of OFWs but also for expats and locals who wish to have an authentic taste of Filipino food. Here’s our review:
Noodle House Kwek Kwek remains true to its Filipino street food origins with the classic orange crisp exterior with fresh quail eggs. Each bite brings you back to more carefree days of enjoying the same delicacy on plastic cups or small paper trays. The Kwek Kwek’s available sauces are either the classic spiced vinegar or Noodle House’s very own Sweet Chili sauce that’s a flavorful mix of sweet, salt, and spice.
At first glance, Noodle House’s Taifun Chilli Lumpia or what Filipinos know as the “Dynamite” might look really spicy – as Filipinos are more used to using green chilies for it. However, each bite of the crispy snack has just the right amount of spice with a mix of meat that brings in a further depth of flavor that would make you want to grab the next piece as you finish one.
While Noodle House might be known to serve a mix of Asian Soul Food, their version of Kare-Kare feels like a new dish inspired by its Filipino origins with the tenderness of the meat combined with the freshness of the vegetables mixed in that you can feel at each bite. The sauce of the Kare-Kare highlights the flavor of the peanut so well on its own. You’ll have yourself asking for another cup of rice when you mix these with the seaweed bagoong and steamed rice. The great news is the Kare-Kare also has a vegan option to make it more accessible for everyone.
Noodle House also managed to re-create the Filipino favorite drink, Sago’t Gulaman with just the right mix of sweetness of the drink and the chewiness of each tapioca. Each sip will soothe your throat with a cold refreshing taste.
For dessert, Noodle House also has its own version of Halo-Halo served with creamy Leche flan and a natural ube ice cream. Each bite and sip of the Halo-Halo has just enough sweetness to eat and is really filled with a lot of Filipino sweet delicacies that will bring your memories back to when you first tasted the Halo-Halo.
