WOULD YOU TAKE THIS TRIP? Bus travel from Delhi to London in 70 days set to launch in 2021

A travel operator in India is set to introduce its newest bus trip, which will take travelers from Delhi to London, UK in 70 days.

Self-drive expedition company Adventures Overland has tailored what it calls the “first-ever-hop-on/hop-off bus service” between the two cities across continents—inspired by Hippie Trail buses that traveled the world in the 50s and 60s.

In a report by CNN, the bus will traverse through 18 countries in 70 days, with passengers getting a chance to hop off and enjoy the attractions of Myanmar, China (Great Wall), Moscow, and Prague.

One of the founders Tushar Agarwal tol CNN he got the idea back when he did a solo drive from London to Delhi a decade ago, which he recalled was an “absolutely fantastic journey.”

Adventure Overland, according to Agarwal and co-founder Sanjay Madan, has been organizing overland expeditions which brought travelers to Iceland, Russia, UK, and India.

“There are a lot of people, travelers, who want to experience these overland journeys, but they don’t want to drive. So, we came up with the idea of putting together a bus in which people can sit comfortably and go on long distance journeys. And that’s how the idea of the Bus to London was born,” CNN quoted Agarwal as saying.

The inaugural bus from Delhi to India, which is divided into four legs, is set to launch in the middle of 2021 should the pandemic restrictions ease—particularly between April and June, due to good weather. It will be available to travelers aged five to 75 at around $20,000. However, they said travelers can also just pick the journeys they want to partake in. They can also choose whether they want to start in UK or India.

Once they reach the destination, the passengers will travel back by air, and the bus will return, this time with a new journey joined by a new group of travelers.

“That’s kind of an experience you can only have when you’re doing these kinds of overland journeys,” Agarwal told CNN. “It’s a life-changing journey, something that people will always remember, and they will cherish it forever.”
