A vehicle plowed into a number of pedestrians leaving one dead and eight injured in London’s Finsbury Park community on Sunday night.
The incident happened in a neighborhood that has a large Muslim population, according to CCN national terror analyst Peter Bergen,.
The van ran over worshipers near a mosque as they left after night prayers for Ramadan.
London’s Metropolitan Police arrived on the scene just after midnight helping the injured victims.
“I saw so many of them crying, screaming, trying to get the police and the ambulance,” Cynthia Vanzella, who lives across the crime scene, was quoted as saying by CNN.
The driver was arrested by the police and the investigation of the incident is still on-going.
“My prayers are with the victims and their families. It appears from eye witness accounts that the perpetrator was motivated by Islamophobia,” The Muslim Council of Britain said in a statement.
