Filipinos aspiring to work overseas may avoid falling victim to illegal recruiters or human traffickers by checking a government databases on blacklisted recruiters.
Prospective overseas Filiipino workers can now access the National Illegal Recruitment Case Monitoring System, Online Trafficking-in-Persons Blacklist Database, and the Illegal Recruitment and TIP Priority Targets List.
The databases were launched as part of a memorandum of understanding signed by public and private sector organizations during the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA)’s Anti-Illegal Recruitment Summit on June 9. Signatories to the MoU are the Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation, Department of Justice – National Prosecution Service, Bureau of Immigration, Manila International Airport Authority, Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force and the POEA.
The opening of the databases to the public is part of the POEA’s anti-illegal recruitment and human trafficking initiatives.
