A total of 1,579 families or around 77,669 persons were preemptively evacuated in MIMAROPA, Regions 6, 8 and CARAGA to escape the severe effects of tropical storm “Marce”, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has said.
These families are now being sheltered in 64 evacuation centers in the above-mentioned regions, reported Manila Bulletin.
Families directly affected by “Marce” totalled 1,993 families or 10,045 persons residing in 100 barangays in Region 6 and CARAGA, the report said.
Of these, 567 families consisting 2,612 persons are now being sheltered inside 39 designation evacuation centers in the two regions, it said, adding that 70 families or 342 persons are being served outside.
‘Marce’ affected a large portion of the Visayas and Mindanao when it intensified into a tropical storm Friday, reported Manila Bulletin.
