A family of overseas Filipino workers donated this year’s vestments or robes of Quiapo Church’s Black Nazarene.
Gi Racelis Autor’s has been a devotee of the Black Nazarene for 30 years now together with her husband who works abroad.
Every year, Autor’s husband ensures that he returns to the country by January to attend the annual procession and traslacion during the feast of the Black Nazarene.
“Lahat ng dinarasal ko sa Poong Nazareno lahat natutupad in a way,” he said.
The couple has two chidren and both of them are also overseas Filipino workers. Gi explained how being a Nazareno devotee change their lives.
“Binigyan niya ko ng mga anak na nakapagtapos ng pag aaral; yung bahay namin natupad; pangatlo yung nanay ko nabiyak ang ulo naka survive,” she said.
After being long time devotees, they decided to ask the church if they could donate the clothes of the Black Nazarene.
“Yung donation na yun pangarap talaga namin na pamilya na kinakilabutan ako eh na pangarap ng pamilya na matupad ng lahat ng blessings na binigay niya,” she added.
When they approached the Quiapo Church’s office in 2018, they were told to wait because there was a line of donors who wanted to dress up the Nazarene.
But their hope didn’t waver as they eagerly waited for the opportunity.
“Nanginginig ako hindi ko akalaing mahahawakan kita (Nazarene) 52 years old ako for 30 years na devotion ko sayo naiiyak talaga ako sobrang saya ko,” she added.
The garment they donated was supposed to be used by the Nazarene image for the parade during the Traslacion.
But Autor revealed that they were surprised when the church told them that the clothes will be used for the main altar.
“Sobrang saya ang naramdaman namin buong pamilya,” she added.
