A local mayor is gaining popularity for his witty replies to netizens on Facebook. When he is not busy with his duties, Cainta Mayor Johnielle Kit Nieto likes to amuse Cainta residents with his humor.
In a compilation by Bheng Manuel Andres, Nieto showed that he is prepared to answer whatever questions they pose him.
Nieto is not awash with formality and strictness. He dresses in a simple white shirt paired with maong jeans. He was also spotted recently with the evacuation team in Planters Elementary School wearing shorts and tsinelas.
Cainta resident Reiko Sampan gave an insight about the man. She said that she has met the mayor several times and he is witty even in person.
“Kapag umiikot sya sa mga lugar na need nyang puntahan naka tsinelas lang sya po madalas,” Reiko told The Filipino Times.
“Humble po sya at simple lang talaga manamit kaya di nahihiyang lumapit ang mga tao kahit sa office mismo nya. Every Monday po People’s day sa munisipyo, ang dami laging tao na humihingi ng tulong,” she continued.
Last month, the town mayor trended on Facebook because of his casual answers to class suspensions.
Sampan said that when she had a good laugh when she read their mayor’s remarks. Instead of going back to sleep, she decided to share it with her friends.
“Nawala na antok ko so kinompile ko po to spread good vibes.”
What Reiko admires from their mayor is his way of helping people.
“’Yung passion po nya sa pagtulong sa kapwa. Lahat ng lumapit sa kanya kahit hindi taga Cainta nage-extend sya ng help. Unlike sa karamihan ng politiko na botante ng bayan lang nila ang inaasikaso.”
“Proud din po ako sa Mayor namin because of his accomplishments,” she added.
Some of the mayor’s fans even said they wish to transfer to Cainta because of the cool mayor.
In a public comment, Nieto said that he finds the comments amusing and that it was his way of bonding with the millenials.
