WATCH: Dubai breaks world record for largest jigsaw puzzle

DMCC and the Government of Dubai announced that they were able to break the Guinness World Record for the largest jigsaw puzzle.

In celebration of the Year of Zayed, the said jigsaw puzzle bears the official logo of the national initiative.

Located within DMCC’s much-anticipated Uptown District near JLT, the puzzle measures an area of over 6,000 m² and took over 12,000 wooden puzzle pieces to complete.

“The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was a visionary leader of rare perception. The Year of Zayed represents an important moment for us all to reflect on this reality, and I commend the entire team behind the initiative for promoting his legacy in such a meaningful way,” Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of DMCC, said.

The puzzle was revealed during a ceremony which was attended by only a few selected groups who put the remaining pieces of the puzzle together.

DMCC said that the puzzle pieces will be recycled after the completion of the project.

The previous record holder was a jigsaw puzzle assembled at the former Kai Tak airport, Hong Kong on 3 November 2002. It was devised by Great East Asia Surveyors & Consultants Co. Ltd, and measured 5,428.8 m²
