Actress Kim Chiu has been the subject of online bashing after a video of her performance went viral online.
In the said video, Chiu can be heard singing Jessie J’s hit song “Flashlight”, but the actress’ “unique” way of singing caused netizens to spread it online and make fun of her.
The video, which was taken from her Kim Chiu FUNtasy Concert two years ago, went viral around the same time Marian Rivera’s “Unfaithful” made the rounds online.
In an unaired interview with Boy Abunda for his late night talk show, Chiu finally spoke up about the bashing she has received.
She said that she is no longer affected by online bashing since she got used to it through the course of her career.
Chiu recalled that online bashing used to bother her, especially when she fell on the ASAP stage while doing a dance performance since a lot of netizens made fun of her after it.
“‘Yung nahulog ako [sa ASAP], lalo na don sa pinaka-una, hindi ko talaga natanggap. Ilang araw akong hindi nakatulog. Bakit nangyari yon? Bakit ganon? Pero ‘pag nasa internet na, hindi mo na maaalis eh, nandun na talaga. At saka ‘yung mga tao, parang it feeds their soul para magbaba ng ibang tao,” she said.
But she said that she learned how to be thick-skinned over time.
“Nasanay na ako. Siguro sa prayers ko,” she said.
Chiu also said in the same interview that she is just happy with how her career in the industry is going since she gets to do a lot to entertain people.
