Miss Universe Philippines 2018 Catriona Gray said that modelling during New York Fashion Week was a dream come true for her, but her appearance in the Sherri Hill fashion show did not sit well with some pageant fans.
Gray made her first New York Fashion Week appearance on September 7 when she walked for the said American designer who also happens to be one of the sponsors of the Miss Universe pageant in which she will be competing later this year.
The Filipino beauty queen first sashayed down the runway while donning a pink sequined gown with a sweeping train, then she came out the second time around wearing a yellow gown with a cape.
The Miss Universe Organization posted a video of Gray’s runway walk on their Instagram page, which many pageant fans did not like as some of them claimed that it is a form of “favoritism”.
Some netizens also questioned Miss Universe as to why Gray was the only foreign candidate who got invited to walk the said fashion show saying that it is “unfair” to her other competitors.
Nevertheless, there were still some who defended and supported Gray, including Miss USA 2018 Sarah Rose Summers who will be one of her competitors during the highly anticipated pageant which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand in December.
Gray also felt thankful that Miss Universe featured her on their social media account and even posted a screenshot of it on her Instagram Stories.
