TV host Willie Revillame might be another celebrity who will try venturing into politics.
It can be recalled that speculations about Revillame running for a political position in 2019 sparked after he was seen having a “serious conversation” with President Rodrigo Duterte at the wake of former Senator Edgardo Angara last May.
Previous reports stated that the conversation between the two lasted for five hours.
In an interview with PEP.ph, director-actor Dinky Doo said that there is a big chance that Revillame will run for a political position, though it is not yet decided if he will run for senator or mayor of Quezon City.
He said that he is one of the main supporters of the “Wowowin” host and that he is also willing to be his campaign manager.
He also considered Revillame’s successful showbiz career and wealth as “good qualifications” since he will no longer be accused of corruption.
“Actually kina-campaign ko na din siya, kasi kina-campaign ko na siya sa Marawi, sa Mindanao. Naniniwala kasi ako sa kanya na kailangan niya na tumakbo. Kasi madami na siyang pera, kasi hindi na siya magko-corrupt, di ba?
“At saka may basbas siya ni Presidente [Rodrigo Duterte] na talagang sabi nga, e, di ba, eto ang dapat na tumakbong senador,” he told PEP.
Doo also said that Revillame has already helped a lot of ordinary citizens, but holding a political position will enable him to help more Filipino people.
He also said that there is a “75 percent” chance that Revillame will run but he is just “waiting for God’s sign”.
Reports in the past have also stated that many political leaders, such as House Representatives Winnie Castelo, Bingbong Crisologo, and Ace Barbers, and former Cabinet Secretary Mike Defensor, have been pushing Revillame to run as Quezon City Mayor.
No confirmation or any form of statement has been released from Revillame’s side.
