Regine Velasquez, the host of the latest reality singing competition of GMA network “The Clash,” shared her reaction over former ABS-CBN reality singing competition contestants who joined the show.
Velasquez said the show welcomes all talented singers who want to share their gift in singing, regardless of their age or previous association with other reality singing competitions.
“Aware naman kami doon kasi siyempre hindi mo naman ine-expect na brand new lahat, but we don’t discriminate,” Velasquez told entertainment website Pep.ph.
Among those who auditioned to the show are previous The Voice Teens contestants Fatima Espiritu and Bryan Chong, and grand finalist in the second season of “Star In A Million” Jasmine Fitzgerald. All three made it to The Clash’s Top 62.
Velasquez noted that unlike other shows, The Clash has a wider age range which gives more room for contestants to show their singing skills.
“As a matter of fact, ang kaibahan nito sa ibang singing contest na na-host ko, ito, walang age limit. Ang age namin is 16 up. E, malaking bagay yun, e, kasi mas marami ka talagang makukuhang magaling, e. So hindi kami nag-discriminate against age, against yung estado, yung itsura, kahit ano ka basta magaling ka kumanta,” Velasquez said.
“We’re looking for the best singers in the country right now na hindi pa sumisikat,” she added.
The first two episodes of the show are set to air on July 7 and July 8.
The contestants will face each other in a one-on-one format with the winner of each battle proceeding to the next round.
The show will be hosted by Velasquez while Lani Misalucha, Ai-Ai delas Alas, and Christian Bautista will serve as the show’s panel of judges.
