This week, Star Cinema confirmed that the production for the remake of Darna, starring Liza Soberano, is alredy in full swing.
Details about the movie, such as the showing date and the list of cast, are yet to be released, but it has been previously reported that Soberano’s love team partner Enrique Gil will not be starring in the super-heroine movie remake due to management’s decision.
With Gil excluded from the film, fans are wondering who will be Soberano’s leading man in her much-awaited movie.
According to a Twitter account, ABS-CBN TV Updates, newcomer Tony Labrusca will be taking on that role.

Labrusca is a Filipino actor, singer, and model who came to prominence after joining “Boyband Superstar” and appearing on the “Tuloy Pa Rin” commercial of a fast food chain.
Labrusca recently finished portraying Jake in the horror-fantasy series “La Luna Sangre”, alongside Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. He has also been announced as one of the newest talents of Star Magic, the talent management of ABS-CBN.
When asked if he will indeed star with Soberano on the remake of Darna, the 22-year-old Kapamilya hunk actor neither denied nor confirmed the rumors.
“Wala pa pong confirmed at all. For me, anything can be changed. Until you sign that contract, you’ll never know. I can’t claim to be part of a movie if I haven’t signed anything,” he said on Sunday.
He also said that he is ready for the bashing that he might receive since there are many die-hard LizQuen fans who may not approve of his on-screen partnership with Soberano.
Nevertheless, Labrusca only have good things to say about Soberano.
“Just like what everybody says, Liza doesn’t disappoint. She’s a beautiful young woman. She’s so classy and she handles herself so well. You can just tell that she’s a genuinely nice person. I really appreciate that about her,” he said.
If he will take on the role, Labrusca promised that he will give his best efforts into the project.
“Bilang baguhan na artista, I think doing my best is all that I can do,” he said.
