UAE authorities have made it easier for locals and expatriates to learn more about valued added tax (VAT) and excise tax, which will soon be implemented in the country.
The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has launched its website that could answer questions on the UAE’s new tax system, WAM reported.
The new website (http://tax.gov.ae) features a frequently asked questions (FAQ) page, where business owners and consumers can read resources on the introduction of taxes.
Khalid Al Bustani, Director General of the FTA, said the website could ease the implementation of an “efficient and transparent tax system in the UAE”.
“We trust that it will be the go-to resource for businesses and consumers seeking information and reassurances about the new tax system. The website’s accessible design and emphasis on relevance and readability reflects the authority’s commitment to international standards and best practices as it goes about executing tax laws and procedures in the UAE,” he said.
The website also facilitates hassle-free registration for business owners.
The UAE will implement excise tax in October 2017 and VAT in January 2018, local reports said.
