Kuwaiti police arrested a local woman accused of stealing diamond rings from several jewellery shops although she was found to be a wealthy woman.
Police had stalked the woman for several weeks before they caught her red handed after a jewellery shop owner reported her.
Newspapers said the woman confessed that she had stolen several diamond rings and made a fortune by selling them to wealthy people.
A police spokesman said the woman used to go to the jewellery shop wearing a fake diamond ring and ask the owner to show her some diamond rings.
“She would wait for the owner to get busy with other customers and quickly change her fake ring with a real one before leaving the shop without buying anything,” the Arabic language daily Al Qabas said.
