Overseas Filipinos in the UAE who are fond of using Skype to call their families back home can no longer have access to it, as UAE’s telecom providers Etisalat and du confirmed the news over the weekend that they have blocked the app in the country.
Etisalat said the phone app provides unauthorized and unlicensed Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service which the UAE does not support.

Skype has also responded to queries on its website and Twitter.
