A former Makati police officer named Silvestre Abainza is hailed as one of the three judges for a light-flyweight International Boxing Federation (IBF) match this coming October 29.
According to a previous report by the Philippine Star, Abainza is a World Boxing Association-licensed boxing referee and judge. At 64, the former police officer has officiated over 100 world title fights as either referee or judge.
This October 29 at the Midas Hotel and Casino, Abainza will serve as judge for the light flyweight title match between Nicaraguan boxer Felix Alvarado and Filipino boxer Randy Petalcorin.
Abainza and the two judges are going to be paid $1,300 (or P69,000 in Philippine peso) each, as reported by the Manila Bulletin.
