South Korea reported Monday 161 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) bringing the number of infected cases to 763.
The news came a day after President Moon Jae-in called for unprecedented steps to combat the epidemic.
South Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare reported two more deaths bringing the death toll from the virus to seven.
Most of the infected cases were recorded in the southwestern city of Daegu with 140 cases.
Korea’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said 8,725 individuals are being tested while 19,127 people tested negative for COVID-19.
