Indonesian football coach becomes Filipino citizen

MANILA: Indonesian football coach Hans Peter Smit has become a Philippine citizen under the Republic Act 10913 that grants him all the rights, privileges and duties in accordance to the Constitution and laws of the country.

A certificate of naturalization will also be issued by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) after Smit takes his Oath of Allegiance before a duly authorized officer, reported Manila Bulletin.

Smit has lived in the country for over 50 years now. He is married to a Filipina and a father of four children, according to Senator Pia Cayetano’s sponsorship speech in May, the report said.

He has made significant contributions in the Philippine football, having coached even the national football team, said the news portal.
