Following the footsteps of fashion designers Michael Cinco and Ezra Santos, another Filipino designer named Jef Albea is taking Dubai’s fashion scene by storm.
Albea set up shop in Dubai, bringing his elegant and theatrical couture creations to the emirate. He told Gulf News, “My inspiration to pursue my career is basically because of Dubai. I promised myself that I will come build my own [shop here] when I am ready. Fate has led me [here]; this is the right time.”
His creations are set to grace the London Fashion Week in September 2017.

The 34-year-old Filipino first opened his shop in Manila 10 years ago and has created gowns for local celebrities, including Lea Salonga, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Rachel Ann Go, and Maja Salvador.
This time, he’s overflowing with excitement for finally entering the Dubai fashion scene. He said, “We have a list of clientele and they are very excited about our creations. Orders are flowing in, like wedding gowns! We are very confident and motivated to show the Emirati women our passion and dedication to create haute couture.”
Albea started his career as a theater actor, but found his true calling as a fashion designer, creating bridal gowns that reflect his love for drama and flair.
