Despite President Rodrigo Duterte’s earlier statements that he wants the next president to be a lawyer, presidential bet Ping Lacson is confident that his rivals will not get the Chief Executive’s endorsements.
Out of the ten presidential bets, only Vice President Leni Robredo and Dr. Jose Montemayor are lawyers.
“E, dalawa lang ang abogadong tumatakbo sigurado naman na hindi niya iniindorso,” Lacson said in a press conference.

Lacson’s running mate Tito Sotto is also not convinced that Duterte was literally describing Robredo or Montemayor.
“I’ve learned to read between the lines every time he says something,” Sotto said.
The Ping-Sotto tandem added that they are welcome for a possible endorsement of the president.
“Lahat ng endorsements welcome, lahat ng endorsements good, ‘wag lang sa demonyo. Local government officials nag-endorse, good, especially ‘pag presidente ang nag-eendorse, that is really good,” Lacson said.

“It is really something pero kami ang ugali naming hindi kami nagsi-seek ng endorsement. Kung i-endorse kami maraming salamat kasi parang mahirap ‘yung maging presumptuous ka na parang nanliligaw ka ng endorsement. Hindi namin ugali e,” he added.
Despite trailing behind in surveys, Lacson insists that the game is not yet over.
“Talagang napaka-tentative, hindi sila maka-decide because they are waiting for whoever the president will endorse,” Lacson said.
