Saudi Arabia has warned the public against violating the curfew, noting that those found not following it will be jailed and fined.
In a report by Al Arabiya, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior announced violators could face imprisonment and fine for as high as SR10,000 if they repeatedly break the curfew set by the Kingdom as a preventive measure against coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The ministry added that second-time violators will be required to pay double the amount of the original fine.
The Kingdom has implemented a curfew from 7 PM until 6 AM. During this time, the citizens and residents are required to stay at home unless absolutely necessary.
Saudi’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that according to their data, around 33% of COVID-19 infections in the Kingdom are caused by gatherings and social contact with previously known positive cases.
The number of cases in the Kingdom has risen at 562 as of March 22.
