A Filipina domestic worker in Kuwait has tested positive for the coronavirus disease or COVID-19, according the Philippine Embassy on Thursday.
The Filipina worker had close contact with a person who recently traveled to the United Kingdom.
“The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait regrets to inform the Filipino community that a female domestic worker is the first confirmed Filipino case of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 in Kuwait. The said Filipino had a close contact with a person who traveled recently to the United Kingdom,” the Embassy said in a statement.
Health authorities said that the Filipina is now in stable condition. The Embassy and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration or OWWA are monitoring her situation.
“The Embassy reminds all Filipinos in Kuwait to stay at home, follow the instructions of Kuwaiti authorities, and stay healthy during this time,” the statement added.
A Filipino also tested positive for COVID-19 in Macau, the 15th COVID-19 case in the special administrative region. Meanwhile, another Filipina tested positive for the virus in Athens, Greece.
