A hospital in Kuwait had to call the civil defence to save a man whose hand was caught inside a meat mincer after doctors failed to pull it out.
Civil defence men using special equipment struggled for nearly three hours in the operation room at the hospital before they succeeded in saving the man’s hand.
The Arabic language daily Al Watan said the process took so long because the rescuers were worried the hand could be severely damaged.
It said special tools were used to cut open the machine and release the man’s hand before doctors who were present in the operation room took over and provided treatment for slight injuries in the hand.
The paper did not make clear how the man’s hand was caught in the meat mincer.
