Overseas Filipinos (OFs) who intend to launch their own business but have little to no idea on where or how they should begin can now get first-hand guidance from the Philippines Department of Trade and Industry as it launches the webinar series titled ‘Balik Pilipinas: An Entrepreneurship Webinar Series for Overseas Filipinos in the Middle East’.
The five-part webinar series is set to begin this Friday, September 11 at 10:00 am UAE time and will discuss topics that focus on the basics of starting out as an entrepreneur in the Philippines.
Interested Filipinos can take part through the webinar via Zoom discussion and Facebook live by registering at: http://bit.ly/BalikPilipinas
Commercial Attache Charmaine Yalong shared that they aim to help OFWs here in the Middle East, as well as those who have already decided to stay home for good back home by promoting entrepreneurship in various fields including agri-business, franchising, and e-commerce, to name a few.
“Laging tinatanong ng ating mga OFs kung papaano ba magsimula ng negosyo o franchise tulad ng laundry business, food cart, water refilling at iba pa. We are trying to promote entrepreneurship among both current and former overseas Filipinos para paguwi nila sa Pilipinas ay may naipundar silang negosyo,” said Commercial Attache Yalong.
Key individuals who will impart their knowledge for the upcoming webinar on September 11 regarding franchising include Dir. Jerry Clavesillas, DTI Bureau of Small and Medium Enterprises Development; Raymond Abrea, Chairman & Senior Tax Adviser at Asian Consulting Group; Usec. Ireneo Vizmonte, Undersecretary Management Services Group at the Department of Trade and Industry; Leila Caguingin Martin, CEO and President of Overseas Filipino Bank; Charmaine Mignon Yalong, Commercial Attache Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Dubai, Salve Duplito, Financial Literacy Advocate Center for Strategic Reforms of the Philippines; Nelly Nita Dillera, OIC – Executive Director Philippine Trade Training Center – Global MSME Academy.

“For example, nauuso sa ating mga Pinoy ang mga nagbebenta online ng mga baked goods, o di kaya ang mga Pinoy na nagmana ng lupa but they don’t know what to do with it. We want to show them how to legalize their business with proper payment schemes and to promote awareness that they can apply and launch their business na hindi matatakot na walang kikitain,” assured Yalong.
