House essentials first-time condo owners should prioritize

Are you planning to buy a condo unit, or live in one? It can be an exciting process, but it can also overwhelm you if you’re not prepared.
If you’re one of those who have registered to the Philippine Property and Investment Exhibition (PPIE)—the biggest, longest running and most trusted Philippine business and investment forum in the Middle East—via: http://events.ppie.ae/register/ to buy a condo, and still have no idea on the important things you need to do to fix your new unit, this checklist may help you get started:
Window curtains
Those who are new to condo owning and living can get too excited and go straight to interior design elements of the unit, without actually knowing the basic essentials you need to do first. When you move in, privacy is one thing you need to address first. Cover your windows to ensure privacy, especially when you’re unpacking your things. It saves you from prying eyes.
New locks
Make sure you keep your unit secure by installing new locks on your doors and windows. Even if your unit is new, it is still strongly recommended to change your locks just to be safe. You’ll never know who has already accessed the lock that was there when you bought it.
Cleaning essentials
You don’t want to start your new life in an unclean condo unit, so make sure that when you move in, you get cleaning supplies such as cloth rags, household disinfectant, broom and mop, sponges, vacuum, and cleaning soap. A clean home leads to a peaceful living.

Basic home needs
Of course, the basic things you have in your old home should also be present in your new condo unit. This include the bedroom essentials (bed sheets, pillows, blankets), toiletries (towel, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, and toilet paper), as well as dining and cooking utensils (plates, spoons, forks, glasses, stove, pans, pots, spatula, kitchen towel, and kettle), among others.

Home appliances and furniture
Of course, you need to have appliances and furniture to be able to do everything you need to live comfortably. Some of the appliances you must include in your unit are a refrigerator, a washing machine, an iron with an ironing board, and an electric fan or air conditioner. As for the furniture, make sure you get chairs and tables, as well as a sofa.

Lighting needs
Get new light bulbs and fluorescent lights to keep your unit well-lighted. It also helps you prevent short circuits because the lighting you got when you bought your unit may have been worn out already.
Storage boxes
Your new condo will be considerably smaller than your old home, so this means you need to make up for the lack of space with enough storage materials.
