Filipinos in the UAE continue to prove to the world that their skills and talent are worthy of international recognition as Nathaniel Alapide, a sand artist in Dubai, was recently contacted by the Italian National Media to be featured in their news and features show, Today Tv2000.
“It was a wonderful surprise for me when I received an email from them (Italian TV- TODAY tv2000).. It’s really nice of them putting my story to their viewers and I’m so grateful for that,” said Alapide.
The recipient of the 2018 TFT Artist of the Year award also adds that it’s the freedom of artistic and creative expression that’s he’s able to channel through his sand arts that keeps him going. “To be able to express myself my way and at the same time share that experience to the viewer – this is what makes me continue doing what I do,” shares Alapide.
When asked of one of his most favorite pieces to date, he responded: “My favorite is the “Tree” that I made as a tribute to my loving Grandmother.”
With his ongoing success, Alapide’s wish is to continue creating works of art that would inspire fellow Filipinos and artists to believe in their capability to channel their inner creativity. “I will keep doing more of the things that makes me feel alive, and try and be the best version of myself and hopefully my story might inspire our Filipino Community in some ways. My message for Filipino artists would be to keep on doing the things that they love …because this can inspire others to do the same,” said Alapide.
