A dog in Mongolia is now being dubbed as the new-era ‘Hachiko’ for patiently waiting for his owner who, unbeknownst to the dog, had died in a car accident.
Like Japan’s famous dog Hachiko that waited for his dead owner for more than nine years at a train station in Japan, the dog in Mongolia is also waiting at the same spot where his master would usually leave him.
In a video posted by Chinese news platform Pear Video, the dog is seen sitting on the side of the road still waiting for his owner who had died in August 2018.
With the timeframe, the dog has been waiting at the same spot for more than three months now.
The video also shows that the dog avoids anyone approaching him, even if their intention is to extend help.
Many netizens are touched by the dog’s loyalty towards its owner, however, they are also worried about the dog’s health.
“He is waiting. He will wait wherever they take him. I have four dogs — that’s why I say so. But please can somebody take him home — I mean wherever he used to live before taking him somewhere else (a foster home!),” said one netizen.
“Unrelenting loyalty, very heart-warming. I hope it has a happy ending for the dog. We need to arrange a crowdfunding page to buy it a shelter and food while it waits,” said another netizen.
