A panadero from Cavite is going viral not because he has fancy pastries or a unique shop concept. Riego “Rhey” de Dios is not an ordinary vendor because what he drives to sell bread is a dashing red car.
A netizen named Jedd Angelo Navarro captured Manong Rhey on video when he went to Tanza, Cavite to visit his friend, Narr Garay.
Navarro told The Filipino Times that he was enjoying a good conversation with his friend when he chanced upon Manong Rhey’s red car.
“Habang lumalapit yung sasakyan nakita namin nasa loob yung nagtitinda. Na-amaze lang ako kase normally nagbibike lang nagtitinda ng tinapay,” said Navarro.
Every afternoon, Manong Rhey would drive with a styro-cooler containing the bread he baked from scratch. Among his specialties are pan de coco, Spanish bread, and doughnuts.
“Amazing si manong,” exclaimed Navarro while his friend, Garay, vouched for Manong Rhey’s products.
“Masarap talaga yung tinapay na tinda niya, siya daw gumagawa nun,” he said.
Meanwhile, netizens are echoing Navarro’s delight at the panadero. They were amazed at his commitment to his business.
According to Garay, a long time buyer, Manong Rhey does not own the car he drives but he borrows it to use it in his business.
“Ang alam ko, hindi sa kanya yung car. Sa kapatid niya yun,” said Garay.
However, this does not stop him from admiring the panadero.
“Nakakatuwa na may halong nakaka-inspire. Kasi kakaiba eh. Kung baga kapag unang beses na bumili ka, masasabi mo na sosyal tsaka mapapaisip ka na baka sa sikap nya, naipundar nila yung car,” Garay said.
