VIRAL: Netizens propose alternative logos for 2019 SEA Games

The proposed logo of the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, which will be held in the Philippines next year, drew negative feedbacks from netizens over the past few days.

Foreign Affairs Secretary and Chair of the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) Alan Peter Cayetano unveiled the logo during the general assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia and it instantly drew flak on social media.

The said logo features 11 circles of various shapes and colors made to appear in the shape of the Philippine map.

“Our logo will be the 11 circles representing the 11 countries bound together in the shape of the Philippines to symbolize that wherever and whenever the games are played, we are one and we will as one,” CNN Philippines quoted Cayetano as saying.

However, many netizens were not pleased with how it looks with many of them saying that it lacked effort and conceptualization.

There were also some netizens who took the initiative to come up with alternative logos in lieu of the original one.

The biennial sports event will be returning to the Philippines after 13 years after it was previously held in the country last 2005. The events are scheduled to take place from November 29 to December 10, 2019.
