A 64-year-old inmate has benefited from the Alternative Learning System of the Department of Education.
She graduated elementary in the Metro Bacolod District Jail Female Dormitory along with more than 20 persons deprived of liberty (DPL).
The aging woman was grateful because she was able to study with the help of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), reported ABS-CBN. She was imprisoned for selling and possession of illegal drugs.
According to the report, lola only finished second grade because her mother made her work at the sugarcane farm at her tender age. Unfortunately, her father died when she was young.
For now, lola enrolled for the first year of high school because she plans to get her high school diploma as well.
