A rumored partnership of television network ABS-CBN and Cignal-TV5 may soon be realized.
According to entertainment columnist Ricky Lo, a press conference on this development may happen anytime.
The tie-up of both networks, Lo added, will “be a big boost for the Kapamilya Channel to extend its free-TV coverage all across the country via Cignal-Kapatid TV5’s nationwide reach”.
Lo said the possibility of this partnership is likely to happen since Cignal has been carrying some of ABS-CBN’s channels (Kapamilya channel, Jeepney TV, Cinemo, Knowledge Channel) on its cable platform.
“With the buzz getting louder these days, there is likely something bigger and better brewing between both camps,” he wrote in his column “Funfare” published on Philippine Star today, January 18, 2021.
When this happens, he says it’s a “win-win situation for both networks”.
“It’s going to be a win-win situation for both networks for sure if such partnership is finalized. ABS-CBN gets its wider free-TV reach nationwide, and TV5 becomes an extended home to the biggest stars in the industry.,” he added.
However, there’s no official word on the matter yet from the officials of both networks.
Meanwhile, some Kapamilya stars are already seen on some shows aired on the Kapatid network, including Ian Veneracion, Dimples Romana, and Aga Muhlach.
Muhlach is expected to sit as judge in a talent show to be produced for TV5 by another blocktimer.
Korina Sanchez’s long-running news magazine and lifestyle show “Rated Korina” is also set to be seen on the Kapatid network.
