OPM icon April Boy Regino or Dennis Regino Magdaraog in real life has died at the age of 51.
The singer’s death was announced by his brother on Facebook.
“Nakakalungkot naman ang araw na ito. Wala na ang kuya April Boy ko,” Vingo wrote on his Facebook account.
The cause of his death, however, was not immediately known.
The singer had a bout with prostate cancer but was able to overcome it in 2014.
In 2015, he was also diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy causing blindness to his left eye.
Regino will be remembered for his classic songs ‘Paano ang Puso Ko’, ‘Umiiyak ang Puso’ at ‘Di ko Kayang Tanggapin’. He was known as the Jukebox King of the Philippines.
Regino migrated to the United States after his career in the Philippines. He tried to make a music comeback in 2015.
