BB Gandanghari, formerly known as actor Rustom Padilla, said that if given the chance to be a man again, he will still court ex-wife Carmina Villaroel.
In his YouTube channel, BB said that Rustom deems his breakup with Villaroel as the most devastating part of his life.
“Marami ang nagtatanong, minahal ko raw ba talaga si Carmina? Honestly and true, oo,” said BB. “Rustom may be right, he may be happy with Carmina, but he wasn’t happy with himself. That’s the problem. ‘Yong pagmamahal, walang question,” BB said.

Rustom and Villaroel got married in 1994, and separated in 1997—leading many to speculate about for years the actor’s gender identity as the reason for the breakup.
The model also said that Rustom truly loved the actress and that he thought she can help him fulfil his dream of having a happy family. However, she said that as time went on, Rustom finally discovered what it was he really wanted, and Villaroel understood it.
“Yun ang pangarap ni Rustom. And Rustom thought na si Carmina din yung babae para sa kanya to fulfill that dream, pero sa paglipas ng panahon, nagkakaroon ng mga natutuklas mo kung ano ba yung katotohanan sa kaibuturan ng puso mo,” said the model.
BB added that a part of Rustom died when they parted ways, noting that Villaroel moving on is the saddest thing the actor ever experienced.
“Dumating sa punto na nagdesisyon si Carmina to move on. Isa sa mga pinakamasakit na panahon, you can just imagine, isang tao na pinaka-importante sa iyo, nagpapaalam. So Rustom was really devastated, pero hindi na siya nag-disagree. It was a very amicable separation, walang sigawan, walang sumbatan, pero pinakamasakit,” she added.
The model added that if Rustom is still here, he will still go after Carmina—adding that it was the right love, but just the wrong time and wrong body.
“Kung ako magiging lalake ulit, babalik, siya pa rin liligawan. Hindi ko naman naiisip noon na bilang Rustom, magpapatawag ako na BB after 21 years or 31 years? I really don’t know. Sabi ko nga, it may be the right love, but hindi lang wrong time, but wrong body,” she added.
