Dayanara Torres says she’s now cancer-free

After a year that she announced that she was diagnosed with skin cancer, Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres said she has beaten the illness.
Torres gave updates about her condition during a conversation with singer Pops Fernandez via Instagram Live on Saturday.
“For a year, I’ve been battling cancer. It was found last year. It was out of the blue. I was working. I was being a judge on a show which is like ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in Spanish, flying every week at the beginning of the year. The next morning, I found out it was cancer,” she recollected.
“I started treatment for a year and I thank the Lord and everyone for all the prayers. It’s amazing the amount of love and support that I received. Last week, on Monday, I had my last test to just check if there’s anything kinda like leftover hanging around, and everything was negative,” she added.
Torres said she would undergo follow up check-ups every three months over the next two years to make sure that her cancer will not return, ABS-CBN News reported.
Meanwhile, she said she intends to go back to the Philippines soon.
“I’d love to visit the Philippines… it’s one of those things that’s always at the back of my mind that I have to go back and this crisis happens, and it makes me realize that if you want to do something, do it. As soon as this is over, I definitely need to go back. I miss everybody,” she said.
Torres became popular in the country in the 90s and had an acting stint and one of the hosts of ABS-CBN’s long time Sunday variety show ‘ASAP’ before she returning to Puerto Rico.
