Actor Cesar Montano has finally broke his silence on his birthday greeting video for a barangay official which drew reactions from netizens because of the “naked” woman in the background.
In a column by Dolly Anne Carvajal on Philippine Daily Inquirer, Montano said that he has been receiving thousands of requests to do birthday greetings ever since the viral video circulated on social media.
“You won’t believe that I get thousands of requests for video birthday greetings,” he said. “But the thing is, I can’t grant their requests to focus on the background instead of me. And a hundred other requests are for my voice-over greeting only so the video will zoom in on the background,” he added.
Netizens have also been making their own parody versions of the video and Montano said that there is one particular parody that caught his attention.
“My favorite spoof is by Buknoy. It totally cracked me up. I’ll send it to you through Viber,” Montano said.
However, Montano no longer shared details about the video, like the identity of the mystery lady in the background and what she was doing at that time.
Nevertheless, Carvajal, who is a good friend of Montano, commended the actor in her column for looking at the brighter side amid the bashing he has been receiving because of the video.
“It’s quite appalling how bashers pass judgment without knowing the story behind the issue. But bashers come with the territory, so Buboy will just let them be. Bring it on till the next controversy comes along,” Carvajal wrote.
