“Mission: Impossible – Fallout” movie gets blockbuster success

Tom Cruise’s new movie and the latest installment to the 22-year-old Mission: Impossible franchise titled “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” has recently hit theaters all over the world and it is already starting to break records.

According to Box Office Mojo, the sixth installment of the Mission: Impossible series reportedly earned $61.5 million in the United States in its first three days of release.

Fallout’s blockbuster success makes it the “highest-grossing film among all Mission Impossible’s installments”, including Mission: Impossible II which earned $57.8 million during opening weekend.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout follows the story of Ethan Hunt, Cruise’s character, who is an IMF agent on the run with his team after failing to capture Solomon Lane, an anarchist mastermind, during a mission.

The movie will also have an all-star ensemble consisting of Henry Cavill, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, Angela Bassett, Michelle Monaghan, and Alec Baldwin.

For this film, Cruise performed a halo jump on camera, the first actor to do it, in the UAE capital. The halo jump is actually a military tactic done by soldiers trying to enter another country undetected.

Performing the stunt is not an easy feat. Cruise had to inhale pure oxygen for 20 minutes to avoid hypoxia or oxygen deficiency. Once the cameras started rolling, he had to jump off a plane. He had filmed the dangerous stunt in March in Abu Dhabi.

“Mission: Impossible – Fallout” is now showing in several UAE cinemas.
