Megastar Sharon Cuneta recently took to Instagram to reminisce some memories of her late parents former Pasay City Mayor Pablo Cuneta and Elaine Gamboa-Cuneta.
On her Instagram post on June 25, the actress shared a photo of a ring with a P-shaped diamond and a Rolex Day-Date 40 Watch in yellow gold and diamonds that she gave to her father as gifts.
She said that she found the old pieces of jewelry when she was cleaning her safe. “Last night, I was very sad. So I busied myself by cleaning out my safe and fixing all that was inside. Then I found this ring, with a letter ‘P’ cut out from one diamond, which I gave to my Daddy as a gift for either his birthday or Father’s Day… I then also found this Rolex watch that I gave him one Father’s Day,” she wrote.
She then went on to tell the story of how she and her father kept the watch as a secret to her mother.
“I remember my Dad and I agreeing to keep it a secret. So when Mom noticed the watch and asked from whom it was, Daddy said it was from our dear family friend Mr. Nano Nocom.
“But Mom found out agad na it was from me pala—kasi naman sa City Hall where Dad was working (he was Mayor of Pasay then), pinapagmalaki niya na ‘Galing sa anak kong si Sharon ito!’ to anyone who cared to listen!
“Nagselos si Elaine. Napabili ako bigla ng isa pang Rolex for her. Hahahaha!” she narrated.
Towards the end of her post, Cuneta said that she misses her father very much wishing that he was there to give her a hug and a good talk.
Netizens react
While Cuneta’s post was meant to be sentimental, that message did not come across some netizens who said that the Megastar was only showing off the expensive jewelry she has.
In the comments section of the one of the posts of entertainment blogger Fashion Pulis, many netizens called the Megastar out for being a “show-off” saying that her post was merely a humble brag.
