Filipino viewers were astounded after a child contestant of the talent show “Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids Season 2” seemingly said a bad word on national television.
During the fifth week of the singing competition aired on ABS-CBN, contestant Sheena Belarmino was assigned to impersonate and perform as Trinidadian-born American rapper Nicki Minaj.
For her performance, Belarmino rapped Minaj’s hit song “Starships”.
The song contains some explicit lyrics but it was obvious that Belarmino censored the profanity and tried to keep the lyrics clean since the show is Rated G by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
However, many viewers noticed that Belarmino had uttered a ‘bad word’ during the performance.
Many netizens criticized the show for letting a child sing a song with bad words in its original lyrics.
The show’s producers have already explained their side about the incident through their official Twitter account, saying that the lyrics that they make their child contestants sing are free from profanity.
Kafamiliars, we would like to inform you that all the lyrics that our celebrity kid performers sing are clean versions.
