The Canadian producer-songwriter David Foster gives a message of support to Charice’s transformation as Jake Zyrus, even calling “him” his friend.
The acclaimed musician-record producer and music mogul said he knows that the once dubbed most talented girl in the world is now happier, and that people should respect for his chosen path.
He even called Jake Zyrus as his “friend” in an interview with GMA’s 24 Oras newscast program.
Foster revealed that even then he already knew Charice was “with a woman and not a man.”
He said the young singer was struggling with her sexual orientation while they were on tour in 2009, and watching it, the composer related, was “painful.”
Zyrus, who grew up in Laguna and came out as a lesbian in 2013, shot to fame after Oprah Winfrey and Foster took notice.
She was then invited by Winfrey to guest on her show and linked the singer up with idol Celine Dion.
During one of her guestings in Winfrey’s show, Zyrus was surprised by the latter with a video call with superstar Celine Dion who invited her to perform a duet at Madison Square Garden. The performance of the two quickly went viral.
The newfound fame led to a recording career and a guest starring role on “Glee.”
