The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi repatriated 49 distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) on Aug. 31. On her Facebook page from which these photos were taken with permission, Vice Consul Rowena “Weng” Pangilinan-Daquipil expressed gratitude to the hardworking and dedicated embassy staff at the embassy’s Assistance to Nationals (ATN) section who facilitated the repatriation. “I also wish to thank the community for their support to the embassy. As I post this, our kababayans are already with their families,” she said. The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi has been repatriating some 50 distressed OFWs a week, mostly runaways who entered the UAE on visit visas, according to Ambassador Constancio R. Vingno, Jr.
