A Filipina model based in Abu Dhabi, who will compete in the latest edition of Top Model 2020 UK, said that the secret to pursuing what you love is not by quitting your day job, but to find time in between to put in the hard work.
Casey Esguerra said that it’s important to find time to incorporate something you’re passionate about in your life—especially since it can keep one sane amid the need to hustle to be able to earn and save money for the future.
“I know that not everyone has a chance to do what they love as a profession, but just keep pursuing it and always find time to incorporate it in your life. This mentality kept me going since I am currently an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) too. I have a full-time job, but I make sure I find a time to incorporate modeling in my life simply because I love doing it,” she said.
Esguerra was named among the finalists of the Worldwide category of Top Model 2020 UK, one of the biggest annual modeling competitions in London. It will be held on March 28 at Amba Hotel Charing Cross on the Strand. She said that she will compete along with 32 international models, something she never even thought she’d reach.

She added that modeling is something she makes sure she has tome for, because it’s the only that keeps her going, especially through the entire ordeal of being an OFW.
“There are days when I have to run to castings right after work or even travel two hours from Abu Dhabi to Dubai straight out of work just to make it to my shoots. I do this not mainly for the fame or added income—although they are great bonuses—I do it because it’s simply I enjoy and love,” she said.
Esguerra said that if she wins, she’ll be the first Filipina title holder, and it can open greater opportunities for her as a model.

Whatever happens, she said she would be happy just to be able to represent the country on the global stage.
She said that Filipinos, especially OFWs, should search for what they love to do because it will help them survive the challenges of working abroad.
“My message to my kababayans who are aspiring to succeed in their chosen field, is to continue doing what you love, and always be thankful because it is a talent that is given to you by God,” she said.
