Love has turned sour for a Filipina and her Pakistani lover who accused the former of duping him out of his cash.
In what could be an intense drama plot, the former couple became sworn enemies on the radio program ‘Wanted’ of Raffy Tulfo.
In this two-part “love-extortion” series, the Pakistani named Muhammad Arslan Athar accused the Filipina, Rose Corazon Mataac, of “extorting” Php3.5 million from him.
This, as she allegedly promised Athar to have her marriage annulled in the Philippines and that they would marry after.
The two met in Dubai while Mataac was looking for a job when she arrived in the emirate on a visit visa.
He said he provided her everything while she was jobless for a year. “It started on the third or fourth day she was there. The first thing she told me: ‘I’m just new here. I don’t have a blanket. I don’t have clothes’. The next day… I bought everything for her.”
Athar also claimed that he took the responsibility of supporting the Filipina’s son in the Philippines.
They have been together for a year and a half. Things started to get sour, Athar said, when the Filipina suddenly backed out from their supposed wedding in 2017. At that time, the Filipina was already annulled.
On a phone patch interview with ‘Wanted’, Mataac denied her ex-boyfriend’s accusation. She claimed that Athar was only obsessed with her and that the money involved was ‘voluntarily’ given.
“Why can’t you accept that I don’t love you anymore,” she cried, telling Athar to just move on.
In an unexpected twist, the Filipina revealed that Athar himself is already married with another woman and that he was physically abusing her when she was in Dubai.
“Hindi pa po sya married nung naging kami. Pero nakita ko po kasi ang totoong ugali nya. Saka lahat ng galaw ko, bawal,” Mataac said.
Athar clarified that he only got married a year after the Filipina declined to settle down with him.
The Filipina however insisted: “Annulled na po ako nung nagpakasal sya sa iba. So, sya ang nang-iwan hindi ako.”
When asked what she has learned from all this, she advised OFWs: “Kilalanin po muna nila yung taong kinakasama nila… at kung talaga bang siya na ang gusto nilang makasama sa buhay.”
Athar said he only came to the Philippines not to get his money back but to clear his name from rumors circulating among their friends that he kept her as a “slave” in Dubai. He said he already received a warning letter from his company in Dubai for not going to work for this matter.
Now, he is demanding P300,000 from the Filipina and wanted to donate it to charity.
The Filipina said she will consult a lawyer about it.
Their interview has been a trending topic on Youtube, with more than 2 million views and counting.
