Anime-inspired song and videos in Bisaya goes viral

Aside from the KPOP invasion, Anime struck the hearts of kids and the kids-at-heart, men and women alike in the Philippines.

People were in awe, hearing the opening spiels and songs of Japanese animated series and movies but who would have thought that Filipino artists can create their own anime-inspired videos and songs too?

In Cebu, a budding band, Juan Paasa is making its way to be recognized and remembered online because of its anime-inspired song that was sang in Sinugbuanon, a Visayan dialect.

The bisrock song “Summoning Eru,” is making rounds on social media since its release.

The song title comes from the Cebuano phrase, “Sa among iro” (To our dog), a story based on the experience of the band vocalist who was chased by a dog just recently.

Members of the band are Joemarc (bass), Bangkai Alas (guitars), Miggy Cerna (guitars), Van Mande (drums), and Mlex Villahermosa (vocals).

Aside from the anime-inspired song, a recent Facebook post from a user named Judd posted a video created by Pol Trudeau showing the landmarks in Metro Cebu that gives anime feels.

The combination of both works of art will bring you to Japan.
