Did you know: Visit visa has 10-day grace period

Individuals whose tourist or visit visa have already expired but are still within the 10-day grace period are advised by the UAE Government to travel back to their home country or any other country and return on visit/tourist or any other visa.

For UAE residents whose visas recently got expired, they are granted a 30-day grace period by the country to either amend their status, get another residence visa, or leave the country.

It’s only during these specific time frames where individuals may head out of the country without having to pay any fines.

The official portal of the UAE Government advises that individuals who stay beyond the allotted grace periods will be liable for fines as stated below:

Visit  / Tourist Visa: Dh 200 on first day of overstay, Dh 100 for each consecutive day, plus Dh 100 service fees at immigration offices when exiting.

Residence Visa: Dh 125 on first day of overstay, Dh 25 for each consecutive day, Dh 50 per day after six months of overstaying, Dh 100 per day after one year of overstaying.

Individuals are advised to also check in with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) at their respective Emirates for further details.
