Pasig City has increased the salary of the city’s health aides in order to strengthen their primary healthcare system.
Mayor Vico Sotto said that 314 health aides who are earning Php5,000 a month would be receiving Php12,000 beginning this year or Php547 a day.
“Our health center personnel face a heavy task and their responsibilities would only get heavier, which is why they should not be underpaid,” Sotto said in a Facebook post.
Sotto said that health aides who will be retiring will also receive a separation pay equivalent to Php10,000 for every year of service.
Pasig is the first city to have an approved COVID-19 vaccination plan and it’s being eyed to have the first shots of the vaccine.
The city aims to vaccinate 33,000 residents every week in 16 vaccination centers.
