Sixty-six distressed Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Kuwait have arrived in Manila, Wednesday night as part of the government’s repatriation program.
The group forms the 8th Batch of OFWs assisted by the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait through its Assisted Repatriation Program.
“Our determined efforts have brought home some 425 distressed Filipinos from Kuwait to date. Our repatriation program is part of our mandate to protect Filipinos in distress abroad,” said DFA Undersecretary Sarah Lou Arriola in a statement.
The DFA’s program helps in bringing back Filipinos home with expired visas or pending cases in Kuwait.
The program provides airfare tickets from Kuwait to the Philippines. A total amount of Php9.2 million has been spent for the repatriation of OFWs from Kuwait.
“We call on our Filipinos to take advantage of the help offered by the Duterte administration and come home,” the DFA added.
