Law offenders in the Capital who committed minor offenses and have short prison sentences won’t stay in jail anymore; instead, they’re free to roam around as long as they wear an electronic bracelet.
Abu Dhabi Police and the Judiciary Department introduced yesterday Oct. 10 a new tracking system to give offenders a bit of freedom while still keeping them under authorities’ watchful eye.
The electronic bracelet will track the wearer’s location so authorities can make sure he or she will abide by prosecutors’ restrictions.
Abu Dhabi attorney-general Ali Mohammed Al Baloushi said the bracelet will “have a positive impact” on offenders, as they can spend more time with their families.
