Sharjah Police recorded more than 10,000 traffic violations during the first two weeks of the implementation of the new traffic law.
The most common violation since the new law took effect was pedestrians crossing from undesignated areas on various roads in the emirate.
A total of 10,358 traffic violations were recorded during the period from July 1 to July 13, said Major Mohammed Alai Al Naqbi, Director of Traffic and Patrol Department of Sharjah Police.
Major Al Naqbi called on motorists to adhere to the new traffic regulations to avoid fines and accidents.
Sharjah Police has intensified its campaign to create awareness of the new amendments to the traffic law through distribution of leaflets to motorists and the public.
