The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief appeals to the public to stop spreading on social media an internal police memorandum about the Maute Group’s plan to bomb shopping malls in Metro Manila.
NCRPO chief Director Oscar Albayalde made the appeal Tuesday saying the bomb plot contained in the memo from the Valenzuela police station is still being verified. The plot involves Mambang Maute and several sympathizers carrying out the bombings.
Albayalde complains that the memo circulated on Facebook, personal messages and other platforms causing it to spread too fast before they could confirm its validity.
He warns that spreading the memo may cause undue alarm.
Albayalde also ordered an investigation of the handling of the memo at the Valenzuela police station.
